You're supposed to put the filling on top of the folded edges so it weighs them down and makes the pastry keep the shape. Other than that, I think it's great to come up with new stuff like this. Now even the savory lover can enjoy Christmas pastries!

I’m a vegetarian so wouldn’t try it now, but I loved maksalaatikko when I still ate it and can imagine how this would work very well! It’s just pastry, so kind of like a maksalaatikko pie.

My mouth watered when I saw this. I love Liver and pairing it with the jam is something I would do. I love strong tasting meat. I have a twist I like to do. I mix cranberry sauce with Horseradish sauce. Then eat it with liver or beef and other strong game or meats. The bite of the horseradish, with the sweet but tart cranberry sauce goes well together.
