Wall Street sees energy stocks 'underperform' overnight

CommSec's Tom Piotrowski says the energy sector was the "worst" performer in the US last night.

"The worst performing sector in the US last night was the energy sector; we've seen all prices plunge once again," Mr Piotrowski told Sky News Australia.

"They [energy stocks] were down in the order of about four per cent last night – falling to their lowest level since the latter part of 2021 – all driven by the demand outlook.

"We saw energy stocks underperform on Wall Street."
