My favorite show of 77. This Scarlet > Fire is a barn burner, as is the entire show. The boys were on FIRE per usual, for such a magical year!

Best Scarlet Fire they ever did imo, just magic and Phil really shines

Spring tour 1977 was the best of the Keith and Donna era, hands down!

Absolutely sublime right up there with the cornell show from that year as my favorite versions

I was blessed to The Dead over 30 times but I still lament not seeing them 1000 times and I miss Jer every goddam day.

Quite possibly the most underrated show from May 77'. Highlights, "Minglewood", "Half Step", the pair of Jacks, "Scarlet>Fire" 1st set closer.

still gotta go with 5-8-77 version. The transition between songs is GD ground zero for me.

I love how everyone besides Jerry lays pretty low during the segue jam. Very tasteful and subtle. I dont know why sometimes they felt the need tp assault the listener with a barrage of noise from all directions but they were at their best when they did less with more. Let Jerry tell the story (musically, i dont mean literally with vocals) so that you can follow along and understand what he is saying. Not have everyone yell all at once. The problem was roles werent clearly delineated. Keith sometimes comped chords and sometimes acted as a second lead. Phil sometimes locked in with the kick drum and sometimes went rogue and did his own thing (i imagine it was harder to lock in witb the drums with two of them) and Bobby never really played standard rhythm guitar instead strumming chords somewhat randomly to add some color to the mix. This flexibility with roles lead to some haphazard and chaotic music at times. Not to say it didnt sound good in its own grateful dead way, just saying its nice too to hear the band taking on a more tempered, traditional approach to backing up Jerry's lead
