Surprised Lake Superior didn’t make the list. Wild winter winds with ice cold water temps, this lake is extremely dangerous for inexperienced boaters.

I live near Lake Michigan and we visit the Lake 3-5 times per year, it can be dangerous if you’re not careful. Plan to visit the Lake in days that are not windy or stormy

I'm a full time catfish guide on Lake of the Ozarks. It's 92 miles long and is relatively safe on the upper end where it's mainly a lower budget style fishing community. The lower end of the lake is known for it's wealth and party scene with the majority of boats being 50+ foot cruisers and go fast boats. The official lake speed record was established in 2014 at 244mph.

I live 5 minutes from lake lanier had many years of fun times on the lake. Can tell you that drinking is a big factor in many of the boating accidents...

I loved fishing in Lake Pleasant, and got some nice crawdads there too 👍 (that was back in the late 70's)

Live 5 miles from lake Michigan all my life I’m old now. And if you don’t respect her . She will make you know how small you are. Be smart and she’s beautiful.

I love living at the lake of the ozarks but it is extremely dangerous mostly because of irresponsible drinkers

The stats for Lake Michigan are off. Just read something the other day that said 38 people drowned in Lake Michigan in 2020, the deadliest year since they started tracking the deaths in 2010. While that’s only a single year this guys claim of 6 per year is not even close. As a Chicago area resident we hear of a handful of drownings just in our area throughout the year.
Another fact that was mentioned is Lake Michigan accounts for about half all of the deaths on the Great Lakes.

I’m down the road from lake pleasant, there’s so many bodies they haven’t found from people getting drunk and drowning.

Every time we tried to go to Lake Lanier a storm would come up suddenly. It was crazy. I even camped once in a campground and the afternoon and night we setup the tent, nothing happened the next afternoon, storm hits. There have been many people on that lake who were considered good swimmers who drown. Hard to recover their bodies as well due to said trees still on the bottom of the deep part of the lake.
