God, seeing the signs that so many queer people survived, thrived, danced, laughed, loved… all through a repressive Code that would vilify our very existence… my heart is full.

seeing the brokeback mountain clip while hearing chappell singing "god, what have you done?" did something irreversible to my psyche i think

Is this how queer euphoria feels like?

I watch this and think about the thousands of queer people who felt utterly alone and disgusted at their existence centuries ago. And then I think about the queer people who danced under the sun and moon, knowing they were touched by divinity a millennia ago. And I think of the queer people who watched that world disappear right before their eyes, silently hoping one day, queer people would be accepted again. And I see the queer people now, so openly fighting for all of our rights to exist as purely as we did so long ago.

If you are currently in a situation where you can't be open, where you feel afraid and disgusted, angry and upset, I understand. I am in that situation myself and have been my whole life. I just pray to whatever there is left to pray too, that one day, no one will ever have to feel this alienation ever again.

“Everything everywhere all at once” scenes with the line “she sees her baby girl, I know she’s gonna scream” made me emotional genuinely, I love that movie so much it’s literally traumatic mother daughter relationship 101

as a trans gay guy in a totally unsupportive environment, this is the stuff that keeps me alive, genuinely. they can’t take away our joy. 🏳‍🌈🏳‍⚧

Joy and Evelyn on “She sees her baby girl, I know she’s gonna scream” should be an actual crime of some sort 😭😭

the clip from wings at 3:24, mixed in with all the more modern movies, made me tear up a little. that movie came out in 1927. we have always been here

god the fucking symbolism and having just the perfect scenes from each movie is beautiful. i'm in tears and i can't breathe when i want to just fucking scream at some parts. not only that but the older films in there terrorise me because we have always been here and as long as we could record it we have done so. an instant save into my favourites folder. fantastic job

This is why Chappel Roan is so important.

This is what she represents, what she makes us feel, and what her songs are opening doors to.

god, I love queer joy. I hope 19 isn't too old to still be finding who I am and where I want to go. I want to freely dance like that in a queer space too one day.

edit on 8/6/24: I'm tearing up and smiling while reading these replies. I love you all. you don't know how much these words mean to me.
