Darkest Hour | Clip | Reason With a Tiger

Slechts een paar dagen nadat hij premier van het Verenigd Koninkrijk is geworden, moet Winston Churchill (Gary Oldman) meteen één van zijn zwaarste beproevingen doorstaan: hij moet kiezen of hij met Nazi Duitsland over een vredesverdrag wil onderhandelen, of dat hij voor de idealen en de vrijheid van zijn natie wil vechten. Terwijl de niet te stoppen Nazi-troepen West-Europa binnenvallen en de dreiging van een invasie voelbaar is, heeft Churchill te maken met een onvoorbereid volk en een sceptische koning. En dan is ook nog zijn eigen politieke partij tegen hem aan het samenspannen. Churchill moet zijn moeilijkste dieptepunt overwinnen en een natie achter zich zien te krijgen in een poging de wereldgeschiedenis te veranderen.

Sadly, Winston, the lesson hasn’t been learned. People still think by wooing and appeasing dictators the world can get together, hold hands and sing “Kumbaya, My Lord”…even once their heads are ripped cleaned from a tiger ready for seconds.

" You cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in its mouth! " Truer words were never spoken. Churchill knew the evil of Hitler long before others. Oldman did an admirable job portraying a man of his times.

Did they resurrect Churchill from the dead? Can't believe that is Gary Oldman in that makeup. He definitely deserve that Oscar.

Gary Oldman went all out with this role playing one of the most iconic men of that period!

Churchill had his faults Gallipoli etc but there is no denying he had tremendous resolve and tenacity in the face of incredible negative odds and he deserves everyone's respect for that the Man had balls this is a great scene and such a memorable punchline never to be forgotten as true today as it was back then

Just this scene alone frames the entire movie and there's at least three other rousing bits of oratory in the Darkest Hour (2017). I'm proud that I can say that I lived in the time of Winston Churchill. Also, I am grateful to my parents for making sure we youngsters watched the man's funeral in early-1965.
