We Are Liberal Arts: Lara Rubbelke

When CLA English major Lara Rubbelke (BA '92, English) was reading great works of literature, she was training her mind to look for algorithms. The skills she developed from her liberal arts degree now help her excel at a job most people don’t associate with the liberal arts at all: principle software development engineer at Microsoft.

In the College of Liberal Arts, we are creating tomorrow’s thought leaders. As we near our 150th anniversary in 2018-19, we’re celebrating this milestone by building a library of stories highlighting our alumni—confident, active citizens poised to take risks, confront challenges, and thrive in an ever-changing world.
