Never thought of using a leaf type tool for indicating, but you've got me thinking of other applications of this idea. And the little trays and jigs you make seriously make me want a 3D printer even more, lol!

Nice tips Chuck, really like the long reach inside the large nut. Nice chip trays. Hot chips will melt and stick.

Love the tray.
I’ve shamed my buddies that are smart enough to figure out a 3D printer.
Thanks Chuck.

I love the measuring approach. Thanks for sharing it, Chuck. Great video. It was nice to meet you and your wife at the bash, even though we didn't have time to talk.

Thank you once again Chuck, you keep expanding my machining knowledge.
Please don't stop :)

All neat tricks Chuck. I even get chips in my shirt pocket.

Very nice idea. Hopefully one day I will have a voice to be able to use something like that. But first I need to get the machine. Thank you for sharing thank you for your time

Appreciate the tips. When indicating on the bore behind the threaded fitting, keep in mind that the metal strapping acts as a cantilever beam. The indicator is not at the tip of the beam, but rather it is near the clamped end. Therefore the runout measured by the indicator is quite a bit less than the actual runout at the bore. This was not the case in the earlier examples because in those situations the indicator was at the end of the beam.

Thanks Chuck, I like the tip with the strap and the indicator the way it floated so nice over the keyway. I also like the tray on the mill vise, perfect for drill tap and chuck key. Enjoyed, cheers!

Good ideas to pass along. Another screwy Tuesday in the bag, I'll be looking for the next one. I gotta try the sawblade with the 4 jaw technique. It could be a real time saver. Thanks Chuck!

Great tip using that yellow tungue when 4 jawing odd stock. That tongue needs to have well defined surfaces. I doubt paint is reliable. A cut off feeler gauge maybe?

@outsidescrewball Add a loose lid to the tray and your golden.

Great tips! And to think I just threw away about 10 years of HSM.

Maybe the tray will catch chips but it will help keep them out of your vise. 🤠
