Yes, there is life after divorce—a good life too. After I got over that— and the Western view that you need to live in a house—wow! I too found it strange how DARN peaceful and happy I am without the physical and mental constraints of a house. I set out on a road trip ten years ago and that has yet to end. I sleep soundly every night and like you, I have time for philosophy and reflecting on what is important. As a traveling nurse who somehow became free of the Western idea that a house is synonymous with being sane and normal—I feel like I won the lottery. The most liberating experience in my life. Thank you for creating this platform for discussion.

I read Man’s Search for Meaning in my 20s and the one thing that always stuck with me was that when he first got to the camp, he declared that he WOULD make it out of that camp alive and he did. Also when he was brought the disgusting fish soup every day, a fish head floating in dirty water, and he learned to find the beauty and appreciation in even that.

Man's Search for Meaning is an incredible book. I really like Frankl's theories. I've found recently that my life feels stagnant and purposeless. I'm trying to make some changes to find out what gives me a sense of purpose, and one of those changes is trading in my sedan for a minivan so I can travel.

True meaning and purpose is when it’s based on helping others. It’s when we think of others rather than ourselves is when we reach a purpose and meaning.

Life is what you make out of it. I know at least with me I was very concerned about being happy when I was a teenager. Reality hits hard when you aren't prepared for it. With age comes wisdom and the day comes when you start asking yourself what you want to do with your life. Never give up on yourself because you will find your calling! Thank you Bob!

Some people look for meaning in religious endeavors, some people through natural endeavors. It's up to the individual to figure out why they are here or what makes them happy. This is one good alternative described by Bob. Just being good to the people around you and enjoying all the beautiful things the Earth have to offer should be enough to make people happy. Too bad there are evil people in the world that try to spoil it for the rest of us.

Bob..I am so glad I ran across your channel last spring during the shutdown..I too went through a divorce back in '02..that up ended my life and affected my kids.even though devastated after 20yrs and 4 kids she decided she missed something and left.i stood strong, raised my kids, they are all in their 30s and doing good and I even have grandkids, like you said in your videos.i had to have a brick and sticks, fulltime job I hated that took a toll on my health..now at 58 and after watching many of your videos and other van life videos..you have given me the push I needed to just not be afraid to do it.im in Michigan, can't take the winter here anymore, , I've had vanlife experience in the past in the late 70s.had a 76 chevy cargo van turned into what they used to call custom boogie van..lol..primer black red shag carpet, bed, swivel seats, table..me and my cousin followed the greatfull dead around for a couple years..what a time.!.so now mostly because of your video I'm ready to hit the road this winter..hoping to see you and others at the rtr..you will have to check out my van..a 1996 chevy express bought from the original owner who was in his 80s..that is mostly built based on all your videos..my new journey in life begins this winter I'm so excited..my thanks to you and the other youtubers...hope to see you all down the road and make some good new friends..!.😁

I reduced the difficulties in my life so much, I became lonely, bored and hopelessly depressed. I realised being useful to others and having a reason to get up every day is the key to happiness, just have to find that true calling that inspires you against all the odds. Love that movie ‘ Flight of the Phoenix’ there’s a quote, something like ‘Man needs Something to love, or something to hope for, but if you can’t do that just give him something to do’
