Victor HD-V1 3D Vinyl VHD Video Disc Player

This is a VHD vinyl disc player.

This technology is similar to CED (capacitance electronic disc). But was produced in Japan.

VHD has many advantages compared to CED:
- multy audio capability (2 tracks)
- 3D capability (in mid '80s!!!)
- more stable

In contrast to CED, the VHD system didn't use grooves on the vinyl platter for modulating the signal and guiding the stylus, but a sequence of pits on a flat surface very similar to LaserDisc and CD. The diamond stylus was more robust with wider base and simply glided over the disc surface, independently tracked and positioned by dedicated electronic control. This pretty much prevented any skipping and other playback artifacts, compared to its CED competitor.

Is this a variant ? Because on others VHDs I’ve seen on the Internet, you simply put the *caddy* up to the door and it takes the disc and then the VHD player beeps so you can take out the *caddy.* Same thing for ejection, just the other way around.
And when there’s no disc inside, there’s a green screen
