What Happened to Ashley Graham After Resident Evil 4?

While Ashley Graham may not be the most popular character to have ever graced the Resident Evil Universe, she was still a big part of the story line of Resident Evil 4. In fact you could argue that she's the most important character in the game because, while she's not the main character that we control, she is the one that Leon was sent into Spain to find, not to mention the fact that she was the crux of Osmund Saddler's entire plan.

I was a little kid when this game came out. I'd often watch my big bro play it in awe, and I ALWAYS thought Ashley was around 15. I was amazed when I found out she was 20, a few years ago.

Minor spoilers for the RE4 Remake

I find it very interesting how in the RE4 remake she says a line along the lines of “maybe i could be an agent too and we could be partners” to Leon! Which i find really cute with her “we make a great team” lines.

Idk i think the thought of her being an agent is is neat/cool.

Maybe she lived a normal life, especially more so after her father retired as a president.
However, I really want to see her in a future game. Maybe she can be the or one of the protagonists, and go through the same rookie cop type of journey like Leon Kennedy in resident evil 2 by gettingt forced into a outbreak and actually had to rely on herself to fight and use weapons. Of course that doesn't mean she will be an agent like Leon, maybe just be more hardened.

Bonus: Maybe she can have some PTSD after what happened at Los Illuminados and is coping with it, and the outbreak and/or some other situation actually encourage her to overcome the trauma.

...behind the scenes, this is what happened was that Ashley Graham was originally Sherry Birkin, but there was little plot justification to kidnap Sherry since she was now orphaned, so an original character of Ashley Graham was created instead

. Shinji Mikami was threatened to be fired for Capcom over the lack luster sales of Code Veronica, which was a very expensive game to make. There were atleast 3 iterations of RE4 that were scrapped before we got the finalized version of RE4 that we know & love. Some of these versions of RE4 were theorized to have Dante/Tony Redgrave, who in one version was a supporting character that was a police detective, in another version he was the protagonist that had super powers because he & his twin were the "sons" of Oswell Spencer and experimented upon to give both super human abilities. This Dante/Tony Redgrave was scrapped, given his own game that became Devil May Cry, however the story elements that he was a child of Oswell Spencer that had been experimented upon with super human abilities seem to have been recycled into Albert Wesker's in story in RE5. Anyway, Shinji Mikami needed an absolute hit for RE4 or he'd be canned, so he was planning on using characters from RE2 since that was the most popular RE game at that point. So he was going to bring in Claire, Leon and Sherry Birkin all for RE4. Somewhere floating around the internet are a prototype RE4 version of Claire, an Ashley with her original prototype cold weather outfit, and an alternate costume for Leon where he's dressed as DMC1 Dante (without the coat). Sherry Birken was dropped from this prototype version because there was no point in kidnapping her for ransom, though it seems the plot point of kidnapping her for the G-Virus inside of her was recycled into part of RE6. Instead Sherry was replaced with this new character Ashley Graham. Claire seemed to have been dropped from RE4 entirely, perhaps she was replaced with Ada.

Still it's interesting to see behind the curtain and understand what was going through Mikami's mind when he was using this characters, and how we eventually got the characters in the final versions of RE4 / DMC.

Resident Evil 4 was the first game in the series I ever played so naturally Leon is one of my favorite characters in the franchise. Whenever I played the game and Ashley was my biggest motivation to finish it because because she's so cute and I wanted to get her to safety.
