Dozens of flood warnings are in effect after Britain was hit overnight by heavy downpours and ferocious 70 mph winds from Storm Claudio.
The Met Office's yellow wind warning remains in effect until 8am in the south of England, with power outages possible.
This is ahead of a second warning that could lead to more severe storms in the west tomorrow.
The Environment Agency issued 49 flood warnings across England this morning, while Natural Resources Wales issued three.
Wind coming in from France will move east today, leaving a rainy day for much of the UK in its wake.
The Met Office added that Wales and areas in the south and center of England are forecast to receive the most frequent rainfall.
The storm clouds are expected to move east towards the North Sea during Tuesday, leaving behind "a rainy day for most of the UK", Met Office chief meteorologist Neil Armstrong said.
He said: “Storm Claudio is expected to have the greatest impact in northern France, which is why Météo-France named it a system.
“For us in the UK, this means strong winds are possible on much of the south coast of England.
