Ólafur Arnalds breaks down his Grammy-nominated track Loom (feat. Bonobo) creating an alternative ending using his favourite Spitfire Audio libraries.

The Stratus plugin offers pre-captured patterns created by Olafur's live Stratus software. Simply hold down a note or a chord and lose yourself in unique, inspiring clouds of harmonic refractions and rhythmic performances as they swell, evolve, and die away at your fingertips, with abilities to control how these combinations of harmonic elements develop. Ah Ólafur, so gentle and laid-back these days that it's hard to imagine you drumming hardcore, but in some ways you're the most punk of them all.

This is absolutely breathtaking. Ólafur's music is way more than it seems, you really need to listen and not just hear to understand the feelings he's conveying. Spitfire has made it possible to get a piece of his genius in our computers. I'm very delighted to see his process and how the essense of simplicity fills up more than we imagine. Gotta love Spitfire for making this possible <3

That ambient section halfway through was absolutely heavenly. Hopefully he expands on that for more of his work.

The little tip on reducing the voice number on a big patch is a super cool one. Lot of love for voice stealing. Beautifully made video. What a relaxing watch and listen. Lovely stuff :)

The open voicings help leave room for all the motion and echo. Genius.

I dig these breakdowns and seeing how, and with what, Ólafur works. One thing I've noticed in a few, is that he'll play the string sections done with the samples, and then compare it to the recording done with live players. Yes, the live players always sound better, but, call me crazy, not by THAT much. Sure, if I had more time or money or access to players, I would also use live recordings. Since I don't, it is inspiring to hear how "good enough" the samples are - for me at least. Keep these coming! Thanks!

Thank you both Spitfire and Ólafur for making this video. Loved the song, how it was made and loved to see him playing around with different sounds. This inspired me a lot with my own music so thank you!

Brilliant. One of the most enlightening and refreshing music production videos I've ever seen - aided by a lengthy affinity for Bonobo (and more recently Arnalds). Well done
