Tritone Scale

The tritone scale is a great symmetric scale that you can use as a tool for making some interested dominant 7th lines. In this lesson I will go over how it is constructed, suggest a few exercises and give you some examples of how you can use the scale in a cadence.

I wasn't aware that you liked metal, Jens! I love Arch Enemy! The first person I ever heard play this scale was Emil Werstler from Daath. If you want to check it out, his lesson on YouTube is called "blending diminished, " I believe. Cheers 🍻

Jens, your knowledge and expertise are so far ahead from mine I can't imagine myself playing what you play. But I keep watching your videos, hoping someday everything will make sense to me. :)
Congrats!
No additions to your videos, keep them as they are, it's great for curious people like me.

Jens - great lesson! Note there's a typo in first scale - 4th note should be C# not C.

Can it be assumed that the A7 and Eb7 arpeggios played over A7 are working as the tritone between the 3 and 7 of each chord are effectively tritone inversions of each other. Taking into account of course that C# is the 3rd of A7 and Db the 7th of Eb7 being enharmonically equivalent.
In any event I'm enjoying your videos.

Hi man sounds great. Quick question would you recommend learning all the different scales. I have a great book but ear differing opinions. Some say forget the modes and scales others say learn them all?

Is there are mistake in the notation at the 2 min mark? There is a 3 -6 -7 on the A string. Should that be 4 - 6 -7 (Db instead of C?)

So a diminished scale minus 2 notes is that a pentatonic diminished?

Hey, I'm a complete beginner at guitar and I want to play jazz. So with that in mind is there a difference between beginners that want to learn normal guitar or rock or jazz or is it all the same in the beginning ? Thanks for the video :)

Man, this rocks ! I'm not classically trained and was looking for this everywhere. I believe "the tritone" was banned in medieval times cos it was evil !

You have wrong note on tab. Must be C#

This scale is so close to the 3rd mode of Harmonic Major. Only difference is that the tritone scale lacks a #9. Interesting!
