FG KNOT MADE EASY- Daiichi Knot Assist 2.0

Yeah, I know this is L-O-N-G. So, don't bother telling me so. Capt Gadget at it again, a little bring you up to speed, and showing you the Daiichi-Seiko Knot assist 2.0, FG KNOT TOOL.

Very handy item. I like gadgets and I like fishing tools. So this is something I felt worth, passing on.

Thanks for the video! I got one of these for Christmas and it really does help tie the knot. I also watched the original video from Japan. I keep tying and breaking the knots to make sure I'm getting it right. They aren't slipping off the leader, but they seem to be breaking at a lot less then the line strength. After looking at the breaks under a magnifying glass, I think the braid is cutting into itself. There is one step where the Japanese video say to do a "temporary" half hitch. You follow that step as well. That appears to be the weak spot. I tied the knot without that step and it was WAY stronger. I am tying 20 lb braid to 14 lb mono and it was the first time the mono broke and not the braid at the knot.

Just got the tool and it is awesome, I can FG the lightest of lines. I've always just backlashed (Rizutto) finished my FGs - tool makes it simple even when on the yak.

Dave, thoroughly enjoy your vids. Question: I got that Diawa Soccou Tool, plus I know how to tie the FG knot fairly well. But you mentioned that Soccou knot was for light tackle, and the FG was for the "heavier stuff". Where do you cross the line between light and heavy? I live in Texas, and do mainly marsh and flats fishing, and I use 30 lb. braid tied to 30 lb floro.

This tool does help a lot but I can't see me dropping $35 for it. May be worth it but for a simple tool i just can't. I will try to make my own tool like this. some hanger wire and some nuts and bolts.
