Crazy story here in Idaho they cannot get a cement contractor to pour the job due to their housing boom so Amazon built a temporary cement Pouring facility and had a third-party come in from another state and build it for them.

There’s a 3.8 million square feet one in New York now. Officially the second largest building on the planet

What a load of crap! I worked at an Amazon in Ottawa that was just over a million sq ft and it was the most disorganized hellhole I've ever worked in. Managed primerely by east Indian's who couldn't care less about product or the workers as long as their "numbers" were good. Ever wonder why your items are banged up? I saw then unloading from the backs of trailers and throwing the products onto conveyor lines. Everything from microwave ovens to fragile household decorations were tossed like garbage. Anazon needs a total overhaul of their management to be the pretty picture this video is trying to portray. Hey Geoff, try getting off your superyacht and make a few surprise visits to your fullfilment centres, you may be sadly surprised.

So correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the new fulfillment centers are setup in a much more efficient way. The newer ones such as the one I work at have it setup like this.
1:Truck unloaders
2: dedicated automatic decant (box openers)
3: goes to all 5 floors for stow
4:pickers
5:Pack
We also have all the fancy stuff

I’m flabbergasted to watch. Amazon rightly deserved to be the best.

Massive FC like that and the floor manager at the control center will still send out that same message to everyone's screens "Alright y'all, break is in 30 min, make sure you're back at your station scan to scan".

I find it so amazingly fascinating .the logistics are incredible.

The wheel is turning. I’ve noticed lower prices at brick and mortar stores. Amazon edge is that they deliver, not that they’re less pricey

I don't understand how it physically makes more sense to store items of different sizes randomly next to each other. I would think stacking items of the same size would save more space instread of having just a pile of stuff.

1:30 determines which size of box is required….then totally ignores that recommendation & puts Yur item in a box 10 times larger 😂

very cool footage but the idea that this is some crucial hub is ridiculous lol. there are 110 fulfillment centers in the US, this place could get nuked tomorrow and the only way you'd know it is because your package was a day or two late if you happened to live in arizona

I would like to know about Amazon's book publishing business - how they get an author's PDF into a paperback book and on his or her doorstep in under a week with no cost to the author. Amazing!

The technical logistic aspect trajectory is fantastic and mind boggling, especially reading about the owners beginning in his home just selling books. Order and precision of distributing the goods is a necessity and every worker needs to be on point. A few concerns: Those with Prime used to receive all items next day; now takes three to four days. Also, the workers salaries have not kept up with inflation. Security during packing needs to be improved as many items seem to "disappear" at delivery. Let's do better.

I worked there. It sucks. In a 4 hour shift I’d walk 12+ miles.

I admire Jeff to a certain degree.. esp when you see his garage “office” back in the day.

HOWEVER.. in the US, they say it takes about 170k to live “happy”..
(id be good @ a mere 100k personally)
Given his wealth, even the guy pushing a broom should be making 100k.
Why? Cause it used to be, when a company did well, the people who make the company run did well too.
Perfect ex of Modern day slavery.

Btw, Jeff could make 200k since the birth of Christ, & STILL be rich today!
Sickening
