Home made DIY Compost Castings Tumbler / Sifter

Here is my DIY earthworm casting and compost sifter. It is constructed out of trash... 5 gal. buckets, 1/4" mesh screen, old tarp, PVC pipes and 2x4's. I use it for classifying different materials, from compost to pay dirt.

If you raise the end where you add the material, you could have gravity help you move everything towards the other end. You can then collect the larger pieces at opposite end.

Cool. Except I would just use one salvage bucket of good thick resilient white plastic modified for the task, rather than one or two of those buckets from some big box store that is really brittle and thin and will self destruct in one year or less. Or, maybe you could get a few pieces of pvc pipe that wide? Anyway, love it: I want one.

Is that a castings sifter to harvest worm poop—-or a raw compost sifter to harvest a bedding material for the worms to live and poop in?

Why rotate? Let it sit and rot naturally rotating does nothing but prevents decaying are you laundering it like cloths 😊 no one in the comments understand what composting is. Its closed up rotting decaying with heat aeration prevents composting. 🤣
