Darker Than Blue - A Mortal Coil is a dystopian short story set in the fictional nation Atlantis Island in 2030.

Boy Blue is 45 years old, darker than blue, towering, big, muscular and appears like a giant. He had tried his entire life to get his act together. Boy Blue lost his parents when he was young and committed minor offences during adolescence.

Atlanteans come in various colours, including pink, yellow, brown, and darker-than-blue. Boy Blue, the antihero, is a psychiatric mental asylum inmate suffering from seasonal depression and periodic nighttime hallucinations.

After being released from the asylum, Boy Blue (BB) faces ten years in prison for imaginary rape.

Signing up for Dr Google’s vaccine programme appears to be the only option to avoid the sentence.

The immunisation programme is not what it seems.

On the other hand, Boy Blue signs up for the Pink Doctor’s programme. He has enormous regard for Dr. Google and trusts him.

Then, Boy Blue learns that Dr. Google will not follow his pledge. His fate now swings like a pendulum, making him anxious and unsure—his future now swings like a pendulum.

So the question is whether Boy Blue will be lucky and avoid a ten-year prison sentence with the assistance of Dr. Google or another after his mental hospital discharge.

Meanwhile, as presidential elections approach, a shadowy power threatens democracy on Atlantis Island.

DeeDee, the pink president, seeks to become the Atlantic’s first tyrant. Trolls and non-pinks, especially darker-than-blue denizens, back him up.

The election pits charismatic incumbent DeeDee against billionaire, philanthropist, and social-democratic contender Charlie Marx.
