Your story about trying to fit in as a jazz player really spoke to me. I studied classical and Flamenco guitar because I wanted to be a "legitimate" musician. I remember the first time I heard neo-classical players like Yngwie mixing the style of music I really loved, metal, with the amazing compositional elements of baroque music I fell in love. It wasn't until I left the conservatory that I even tried to lean shred. Wish I would have focused sooner!

Whats up Brother Bernth? Im completely self taught. Started playing in my early teens and still shred everyday and im pushing 40 now. I just wanted to say i really appreciate your videos because even though experience over the years has taught me much I find watching your videos expose the simplest things that I've overlooked or just never knew about. Suffice it to say, its definitely taken my playing abilities to higher levels by opening up doors in my brain to execute the faster and advanced techniques that i have struggled with figuring out on my own. This is an extremely well video, all of the things he has mentioned I had put into my practice routine about a month ago, I have already made such a huge gain in picking speed. I have went from 120 bpms with triplets, to 210 bpms, with sextuplets. That is a huge leap for me, for most people actually. Dont be lazy work and perfect your techniques it is the only way to get better. I thought it wouldve taken years for me to get better, and truthfully for some people it will but most people will progress so much faster than they think. Very well put together video. Thankyou Bernth I owe it to you!
