There’s a global semiconductor shortage and this is why it matters

The Covid-19 pandemic has killed millions of people worldwide, disrupted international trade patterns and greatly reduced international travel. However, there is another crisis that has happened concurrently. The world has been suffering from a major shortage of semiconductors.
These microchips are used in essentially all of our daily appliances and consumer electronics, including laptops, tablets, personal computers and video gaming consoles. Supply of basic chips and advanced integrated circuits have struggled to keep up with demand because of the disruption of global supply chains. The South China Morning Post has taken a look at how this shortage has affected consumers and when it could potentially end.

Difficult problems need simple solutions. The answer is simple, recycle old semi-conductor components from used electronics and make new ones from them...easy.

Think the shortage is more due to scalpers who resell all PlayStations, Xbox's and other products at a large profit. A different name is middlemen from the government.
