While offline storage is much cheaper I feel that the convenience of accessing all photos anywhere anytime is what keeps me hooked to online cloud storage

Tbh, if on android, download the Google Opinion Rewards app. Just answer some dumb questions and you get a few cents for each one. Most of the time you get a few a day with a guaranteed 10 cents for each survey. Then it just goes into your google play account balance. Then get free google one

I still use Google Photos for everything! I just upload everything thru my good old Pixel XL, still with unlimited and original quality photos and videos, simple as that! 💪😉

I use my Synology nas and their excellent DS Photo app to back up my photos on the go. With 8TB of play there's enough room to also help my friends and family back up to this as well. For me it is a winner all round.

Yeah, fun fact to consider about that last part:

You can get a 4TB External SSD for just $89.99 on Amazon on Black Friday, if not a **12TB** Seagate HDD for $220.

I think that's way better that paying $13 monthly to the megacoporation Amazon, or trying to keep everything under 100 GB for the rest of your life, or trusting sketchy and slow cloud services...

A lot of these options are not kind to video storage either.

I am a huge fan of pCloud. I was able to purchase 2 TB of lifetime cloud storage for only $199 and I have just about every file on my computer back up to this cloud storage option.

I've got a Pixel 4a 5G smartphone as my daily driver, GoPro Hero 8 with their cloud storage subscription because I use my GoPro every day practically, and even if I step away from the Pixel line I've still got Amazon Prime. But I'll still be looking into a personal NAS system for my business.

It's not entirely about storage....If any other service allows searching for photos using keywords as good as Google Photos I'll jump ship asap.

I tried all of them before, send none come close to Google photos. I was already paying the extra 1.50 per month for Google one, so it's ok.

still Google is the best option from all of the other alternatives, Google drive/photos have no bandwidth limit while others have less bandwidth limit, degoo is the worst storage service I've used, while OneDrvie is trustworthy & reliable than others.

The problem is You don't know when they'll increase price.... Like once Google photos was free then they started to charge in future they'll increase the price for sure... 1tb SSD works for me

For its flaws, Google Photos is still a great choice for backing up your photos and videos. All we really need now is for Google to include more benefits in a "Google One" membership. The benefits outside of expanded storage are kinda meh
