Ever since I started reading this book a couple of weeks ago, I've been watching movies and yep, almost every single one I can pick out the set-up want, the point of no return/catch, the flaw, and crisis. They're always there but it's totally different in each story. So she's right when she says, using this structure from the outset doesn't make stories/movies boring and predictable, it makes them more satisfying to the viewer/reader/consumer.

4 minutes of explaining absolutely nothing about the technique. "The form is on my website" which is incomprehensible. She's just trying to get people to buy her long-winded book.

The number one problem with [wannabe] screenwriters: they don’t read enough. Some of them don’t read at all which is laughable. Don’t have time to read? You don’t have time to write.

The second problem is they were not born with the conceptual ability to storytell which isn’t fixable.

The third is that they think they can skip writing the short stories, letters and essays and magically leapfrog to screenwriting with something of value in their heads. Yeah, no.

A sad lot 99% of them and that has never and never will change.
