Im VERY happy with 30 mins flight time, 3 Axis Gimbal & 2.7K Video. However looking at the Controller, I cant see if it has a Sports Mode switch. Do you know if the Mavic Mini will have Sports Mode?

Looks like a potential folding 'cinewhoop' option (with prop cages on) for high risk or close proximity shots. 2.7K is fine depending on bitrate and FPS options.

We've had a P4, Spark, Mavic Platinum and now the Mavic 2 Pro w/ the Smart Controller. The P4 was awesome, but so bulky and time consuming to get in the air we really only used it occasionally outside of planned shoots. The spark was awesome for keeping in the truck, but the 2 axis gimbal and 1080 limitation kept it from being super useful for content. We got the platinum to replace both, falling right in the middle of portability and quality. But....it was still a little too much to just carry around everywhere like a cellphone or GoPro..or eventually Osmo Pocket.

This little drone may be exactly what we're looking for when we're out adventuring. Pretty bummed it doesn't look like it will be compatible with that smart controller, but it makes sense. I can live with 2.7k @ 60fps and wifi transmission as a trade for affordable and portable. Our M2P is very much like our DSLR, it often gets left behind when we out adventuring and have to trek light, so having a capable and ultra portable option is worth $500 (fly more) to us. Holding out hope for 100mbps and a transmission system better than the Air. I can live without obstacle avoidance as I only use it in two scenarios: super tight quarters flying or during the "quick shots" when it's turned on anyway. I think, though, its going to be a big bummer not to have that for the market they're targeting: new drone operators. But I guess that's why they include prop guards, right?

I've noticed a lot of current drone owners say "No thanks!" to the Mavic Mini, and a lot of non-drone owners say "Yes please!" to it. That basically tells you who DJI intends to target with the Mini. It's not going to replace an all-singing and dancing 4K drone like the M2P or Skydio 2; it's an affordable option for those who want to own their first name-brand drone. I don't have a drone, but I'm very interested in the Mini for the portability and how well it might fit my use case (filming BMX).

I have THREE Mavic Pro all perfect never let me down. Then the DJI FPV system came out. AWESOME ! we should all be grateful DJI exists so we have these cool toys ! Depending on transmission system (could it possibly link up to the FPV ?

I'm still using MP1 but it's become a pain to pack it (I'm a photographer and mostly want to use a drone when hiking in mountains) so this looks like a no brainer. High quality stills important (I got great results from the MP1 and Osmo Pocket are fine too). Unless the Air or Spark are better suited. Options eh.
