Will the last person out of the Jaguar factory please turn off the lights.

They might as well have retired the Jaguar brand completely and made a new brand if they are desperate to ditch the past.

It seems to me like Jaguar wants to build a car for people who will never buy a Jaguar.

it's not an e-type moment...it's an extinction event

This is the company that built the E-type, the first car to be exhibited in the Louvre.
They built the XJS, the car driven by The Saint.
They built the XKR, the car that dueled with James Bond's Aston Martin on a lake of ice.
They built the XJ220, the world's fastest production car at the time of its release.

When I think of Jaguar, these are the things that come to mind, not eight fashion victims stepping out of sliding doors into a pink desert.

as an Italian, who always had british cars like Lotus, Caterham, Ginetta, Morgan and Aston Martin I am truly disappointed by what they have done to Jaguar. I have no words..they committed an "abuse" against a historic brand

This is a car that looks best when viewed from the opposite side of a solid brick wall.

Big heavy electric lump that is targeted at a modern audience that doesn’t exist,

My first thought is “God that thing's hideous.” That was my second thought and the third as well.

The interior looks as comfortable as a church pew in an earthquake. Those tiny windows will make it feel like being in a pillbox, and I don't really get the logic behind the lack of rear window. It might make the body a bit lighter and more rigid, but you need to add loads of tech to see out of the rear, so that cancels any weight loss.
That rear grill thing looks like something you'll get in a small Lego model.
As for the advert reflecting the norms of modern society - modern society has a diverse range of norms depending on location, age, class, etc. I think the 'norms' reflected here is a very narrow London arty middle-class clique. Not the sort of people who are particularly interested in buying or driving cars, let alone a Jaguar.
Even if Jaguar want to find a different type of customer (which isn't a bad idea, as the caddish middle age bounder is dying out), you need to find those who want to buy cars and can afford them.

I can’t see Porsche dumping their logo and history

This car will not appeal to the younger buyer, except for pimps and rappers.

Let's not pretend that just because the car itself doesn't produce emissions, that producing the car, or powering the electricity doesn't! There's nothing clean about a lithium mine, or a power station!

the advert looks like they are selling printer cartridges

430 mile range is not enough- it needs to keep going far enough so that nobody has to see it again. Ever.

They're not reflecting society, they are reflecting an ideology which is quickly going out of fashion.

This is the end of a great company who made beautiful unique designs that were created by real engineers. This looks like Chrysler cross fire on steroids. If anyone buys this jaguar be prepared to have a dreadful experience 9:26
