In my, ahem, 37 years of investing experience, ahem, the key is indeed diversification. However, you must also rebalance. Rebalancing is very important as your diversified regions/currencies/sectors etc will go up and down and regular rebalancing forces you to sell high and buy low. 😊

What about portfolio diversification instead of only stock diversification ?
Stock diversification is pretty easy. MSCI World or All country world is all you need and you are done. But what about the rest ? Are you going 100% into the stock market ? What do yo uwant to do when the market droppes like during Corona ? Wouldn´t be nice to have some money to buy cheap stocks again ?

Your video could also be used to illustrate how active/managed funds shouldn't be used as the main element of a portfolio. Fund managers always promise so much but very few can deliver market beating returns over a long period.

Interested in your thoughts on Investment Trusts Toby, do these belong in a modern diversified portfolio? I started investing many years ago and ITs form a core of my portfolio (there were no ETFs back in the day). I'd be interested to see you compare ITs and ETFs (including costs). Some ITs are of course real dividend super heros.

I have 43 investment trusts in my ISA - diversification squared! 😀 Adding another 2 after 6th April. Probably Greencoat UK Wind and Bluefield Solar to add some renewables into my portfolio.
