Kyiv pummelled by 'largest Russian drone attack since Ukraine war began' lasting six hours

Ukraine's capital suffered what officials said was Russia's largest drone attack of the war on Saturday, leaving five people wounded as the rumble of air defences and explosions woke residents at sunrise.

The attack began hitting different districts of Kyiv in the early hours of Saturday, with more waves coming as the sun came up. The air raid warning lasted six hours.

Ukraine's air force initially said 71 of the 75 drones had been shot down, but subsequently revised the number of downed craft to 74. Its spokesperson said on television that 66 of those had been downed over Kyiv and the surrounding region.

In 1994, the Budapest Agreement was signed, according to which Ukraine, at the suggestion of the West, renouned nuclear weapons and heavy bombers. And the West, represented by the United States and Great Britain, acted as the guarantor of its territorial integrity, promised support in the event of an attack on Ukraine. Refusal of nuclear weapons effectively left Ukraine vulnerable against Russian aggression.

In 2014, Russia annexed the Ukrainian Crimea and part of Donbass, and in 2022 it is attacking Ukraine, bombing its cities and villages, killing Ukrainians.
And now the West does not want to give Ukraine enough necessary weapons, although basically these weapons are not new, they are being replaced with more modern ones.

The trouble is that Moscow is allowed to do this with complete impunity. I'm not suggesting stooping to Putin's level and murdering civilians in Moscow, but it does have buildings and infrastructure that could be taken out with little or no loss of life. Major transport hubs or bridges could be blown up late at night, and skyscrapers in the business district could be demolished. Let's not forget that the IRA destroyed the NatWest Tower, and they had far less resources than what are available to Ukraine.

Russians are attacking Ukrainian weapons depots and army barracks while Zelenskyy is attacking residential buildings with anti-aircraft missiles with long expired shelf life. Zelenskyy already hit Poland, Romania (a jet and a chopper were downed, 8 servicemen killed), Moldova, Belarus, numerous residential buildings and at least two children’s playgrounds inside Ukraine with these missiles. Western missiles which are sent there are also with either expired shelf life or very close to expiration date . It’s mindboggling how many buildings were hit and civilians killed (including two hapless Polish farmers) with this ongoing criminal lunacy of Zelenskyy regime. The chance of downing Russian missile is negligible in comparison with a risk of an accident with numerous civilian casualties. To give weapons to this war criminal Zelenskyy is like giving matches and gasoline to a serial arsonist.
