Interesting fact: this is the route that the train scene from James Bond’s Casino Royale was filmed. In the film it was supposed to portray a route from Switzerland to Montenegro.

Thanks for "Czeching" out my country!

When I saw it was a Czech train I thought, "This ought to be good" and it didn't disappoint. Every Czech train you've featured has been well run and in great shape. They also have an open buffet car when so many others don't. From the Art Nouveau station to the beautiful Slovakian scenery, this trip was a winner.

A quick note on pronunciation - When you see what looks like a small V above letters in Czech/Slovak the way it's pronounced is similar to a sh or ch sound in English - Č and Š sound like Ch and Sh respectively. Great video and subject and as a (part) Slovak I can't wait to see more!

As a Czech I was only twice on board of the Pendolino when I asked my parents if we can make a trip somewhere using it. I was a young boy back then but I never used it since. I think it's mainly because ČD do have fast trains, unfortunately the highest speed in the Czech Republic is 160kph only. I do quite regular trips from Prague to Olomouc (the most scenic, favorite and nostalgic part for me glimpses at 10:56) and I pay an annual fee to ČD and I can use all their trains for free except the Pendolino where I still need to pay extra, so for me (a student) there's no point to pay quite a high charge only to save literally less than 30 minutes even tho the distance from Prague to Olomouc is around 270km. As I said, Pendolino goes only 160kph here (and there are even parts where it can't go that fast) and other trais go 140kph minimal or 160kph too, only with more stops.

Very nice report :) Even that I am from Poland, for many years I hadn't known that one of the most important rail lines of Czechia and Slovakia runs so close to Poland.

I just have a note about the pricing, and calling it "very cheap" or "exeptional value" in travel reports of many train youtubers. That's totally right when comparing to western European countries. However, for many people in Poland, Slovakia, Czechia or Romania, these prices are average or often even expensive (like the fares for Polish "Pendolino" trains).

In the same time, taking a train trip to Germany or France often seems like a vision of bankruptcy for travellers from Eastern European countries once they check the prices of DB, SNCF or ÖBB. Especially for the youths it's often unaffordable, even InterRail tickets seem enourmously expensive :(

Well, I really enjoyed that journey. I've always longed to see Prague and the Czech Republic. But I've been blown away by the
beauty of Slovakia now as well. Train journeys are certainly the way to see countries. Your commentary and advice for the
potential traveler tie the viewers package together nicely. Thank you, and I look forward to further laptop outings!

That journey looks absolutely amazing with the scenery. The mountains look spectacular. Judging by the video the pendelino looks one of the best quality rides I’ve ever seen. Great video, will have to watch it more than once

Thanks, Dylan! I said it, I said it again, I'll say it again: you are the best chain of train trip reports. I was finally able to see the magnificent Prague station in its entirety, the magnificent platforms of the Prague station in its entirety. Everything is exceptionally well shown. We travel well with you, Dylan!

Extremely pleased with your trip in the Czech and Slovak republics. Can't complain about the price of the fare either. My maternal grandparents are from here and this is a planned trip on my bucket list from the US.

Fascinating to see the beautiful mountain landscapes. I've seen nothing of the Czech Republic and Slovakia other than Prague and Bratislava, so obviously I've missed a lot! Also very impressed by the quality of the train and the second class accommodation. It occurred to me that the train looked too narrow inside to comfortably hold a 2x2 seat configuration, and I see other comments on the same point.

I've stayed in Prague more than once, also Zakopane just across the Czech/Slovak border in the Tatras, and really enjoyed this video Dylan 🙂
