I miss this guy man he was really a big part of my day. I started watching John when I was getting back Into the gym. I started out at 130lbs just got out of a toxic 7 year relationship and 5 years later I'm up to 175-180lbs mostly on John's knowledge and advice

I always do two to 3 heavy compounds and two to three focused on the pump stretch and constant tension.

when im fresh from rest day, i lift heavy with low rep but as i try to end the week, i shift to light weight, high reps. i like this style and works to keep everything fresh for me

Good one. I had a discussion with another member of the 55 plus oldies at the gym. We discussed what was heavy. Heavy relates to possible reps not actual weight. He said to me you always go heavy on the bench, I smiled and shook my head. I explained that my 20 plus re range is his 1-2 rep max. I said whose working the hardest? You who does a 2 rep max and can't hit 3? Or me that stops at 20 with the same weight?? We had a laugh and he said 'I never realised you were such a lazy f...'
The point of failure is the hardest part to get right, that and how often to go to absolute failure.
I'm 55, he's 57 and we still love it.
Thanks for the vid 👍👍👍

Maybe this is where EMOM and cluster sets come into play. Use a heavy weight, don’t go to failure, but use short rest periods. You’ll move a lot of weight by the end of a short workout, but you won’t annihilate yourself

Not heavy and not light in between, , moderate weight is best for growth and staying injury free
