Lindsay Mendez, Sherie Rene Scott and Betsy Wolfe (from left to right) sing "Up the Ladder to the Roof," the finale of the Broadway musical EVERYDAY RAPTURE, as part of the opening number to the 2010 Tony Awards. Choreography is by Michele Lynch. The musical received two nominations: Best Book of a Musical (Dick Scanlon and Sherie Rene Scott) and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical (Sherie Rene Scott).

"Up the Ladder to the Roof" was originally a 1970 hit single recorded by The Supremes for the Motown label. Music is by Frank Wilson and lyrics by Vincent DiMirco. The original arrangement was by David Van DePitte. This was a top ten hit for the Supremes in the U.S., going even higher in Canada and the UK. It was later recorded by Bette Midler in 1977 and by the a cappella group the Nylons in 1982.

EVERYDAY RAPTURE played on Broadway through July 11, 2010 at the American Airlines Theatre.

Sherie deserved the Tony. She should already have one by now.

In one minute 5 seconds Betsy Wolfe has made of fan out of me----Sherie and Lindsay are great but Betsy is fantastic. I have listened to this at least a hundred times and each time I get caught up in the precision of her harmonies. Sean Grady thank you for letting me know who it is. If you ever speak to her please pass my message on.

Never heard the song before the radio ad. Got it off of iTunes. Bravo ladies!

Fun to come back here with the hindsight that the other two singers are Lindsay Mendez and Betsy Wolfe, a future Tony winner and nominee respectively.

@marcxxmaverick she had a little cold when I saw the show, and she went on. She just blew her nose a few times onstage and that's it. She still sounded AMAZING.

This, Kristin Chenoweth, Laura Bell Bundy, Idina Menzel, Lea Michelle, and Matthew Morrison were the best parts of the Tony's for me.

@Alvin4NY this is not wrong, this is just another version of the original... if u don't like this version doesn't means that it's wrong...

This was a great opening, and a reminder of a classic song from one of the best decades of music from the masters at Motown...these girls sound fine, but the Supremes took it much higher.
