I find it is easier to just go to a seed company online and order seeds for the things you actually want to eat and then store them . I base my garden around 2 basic meals that I love and can use the same vegetables for a wide variety of food dishes. The 2 meals I chose are Beef Stew and Chilli. I grow onions, garlic, radishes, ginger, different peppers, different tomatoes, corn, different beans to include pintos, potatoes, okra, carrots and celery to name some of the things I like to grow. These same vegetables can be used in a wide variety of combinations for different soup stocks to be canned for use for later. The tomatoes can be processed down into different sauces such as spaghetti, pizza, marinara and cocktail sauces or just plain old tomato soup. Yes I do grow salad greens such a lettuce and kale and cucumbers because I do enjoy eating salads in the warmer months . I am going to try and get some tea tree plants growing and some sugar cane because I definitely don't want to miss out on my sweet tea when the s hits the fan. I also plan on setting up a portable counter top ice maker and running it on a solar panel and a power inverter so I can drink it iced.

I may order this. It has a lot of things on my yum list that I've actually grown before:
Broccoli (Waltham 29 is my favorite though)
Detroit dark red beets
Red cherry tomatoes
Georgia collards (don't grow them now because my neighbor sells HUGE heads for $1)
Purple white globe turnips
White icicle radish
Mustard greens
Sugar baby watermelon (when the varmints didn't eat them all!)
Early Jersey Wakefield cabbage
My wife likes the Bibb lettuce and I like the okra (I know, barf!)
By the way, it was 16 degrees here last night with 6 inches of snow and the broccoli and winter kale are doing just fine.
Another great video as usual.

wow these packets have a lot of seeds in them! the danvers half long carrots do well in my area (MO), they don't get as large as some but they are quite reliable growers. I've had the best luck growing them and chantenay carrots (both smaller varieties) over any others that I've tried. thanks for sharing! :)
