I started brushing my 20 month old border collie’s teeth from 8weeks. He’s tolerant of me. I actually use a child’s Oral-B. All the benefits of the circular motion. With dog paste.

Great work, just a heads up the ad on Amazon says that when they swallow it, it gets into their saliva and that’s how it softens the tartar so that you can brush it off. No need for the paste lol I’d still recommend brushing once a week

The hexametaphosphate in this product is bad for your dog. Yes, this form of phosphate infiltrates tartar and that helps break up the calcium matrix but at a bad cost. Excess phosphates in the diet degrade your dog's skeleton and is also very hard on the kidneys. Additionally, it can cause bladder and/or kidney stones. If something seems too good to be true, it probably is. You can get Proden Plaque Off instead which is just the seaweed component and that works great-- Not as effective as the kelp in combination with hexametaphophate but healthier systemically.

Note: Hills recently and silently removed the hexametaphophate from its prescription form of its Dental Diet. So, now, their two Dental Diets, the non-prescription form that never had the hexametaphosphate and the Rx version that did are now both the same and just contain the high fiber, scrubbing kibbles. Why would they take out hexametaphosphate, the active ingredient in the Rx formula you ask? Well, for only one logical reason and that is that customers were reporting kidney and bladder disease in their dogs allegedly. They want the new packaging out there in the world to dilute out the old packaging and then they can say, allegedly, Hexametaphosphate? What Hexametaphosphate.

Take my word for it, the problem with excess phosphates in dental products for dogs will come to light soon and you will wish you had taken me seriously and looking into this and saved your best friend. Please look into this.
