In ancient culture, seeing a man's nakedness meant sleeping with their wives and or concubines. A king would conquer and see the nakedness of his rival king by taking his women.

Ham is the 1st born of Noah, not Shem. Note that Japhath is the elder of Shem (Gen 9:18), but not the oldest. The 1st born of Adam, Cain was cursed for the sin (Murder) he committed against his brother Abel. This curse was passed down upon all of the descendants of Cain. So, what was the sin committed against Noah. Ham, the 1st born of Noah, uncovered the nakedness of his father's wife, which is called your father's Nakedness (Leviticus 18:8). This verse in Leviticus describes a sexual prohibition. So, Ham's sin resulted in a curse falling upon all his descendants. There is biblical evidence to suggest that Ham raped his mother (Noah's wife) and she became pregnant with Canaan. So, Ham is the father of Canaan, who became Noah's illegitimate son through his wife. Would not an illegitimate son become a curse upon any family? The phrase, "Cursed be Canaan" now seems to make a lot more sense.

Many time when I come across a script in the bible that I don't understand, I keep the story to my self hoping the spirit would give me the wisdom.
If my desire were not granted, then it was not important to my venture as a Christian.
I would not let my thoughts challenging the glory of the holy.

This action by Ham also illustrates that much of the pre-flood world which God sought to destroy (murder, rape, incest, violence) was still alive through Ham. These evil human inclinations were not completely destroyed.

I don't think that was the case at all. In those days, being disrespectful to one's parents was enough to be severely disciplined. Ham showed absolutely no respect for his father by gossiping about him and telling his brothers that he was naked. He should have shut up and tucked Noah in without looking at him.

To "uncover his fathers nakedness" is a clear and unmistakable idiom that he had relations with his fathers wife.

Lev 18:8 ‘The nakedness of your father’s wife you do not uncover, it is your father’s nakedness.

To uncover someone's nakedness in the Biblical sense, usually meant one had physical relations, with someone they shouldn't have.

I always wondered about this, but I had thought he was Mocking his father, his drunkeness, his nakedness. Instead of being compassionate and covering him, then going about his business.

No. Absolutely not. Holy scripture is Truth. The conclusions that this video draws are erroneous. The narrator seems to forget that the bible is God's Word; that "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16) Notice this verse says "ALL SCRIPTURE" not "SOME SCRIPTURE." So, no, writers and translators did not change God's Word. If you believe some scripture is true and some is not, how can you know with certainty what parts of the bible are trustworthy? The bible is either God's Truth or it is not. You can't have it both ways. The conclusion that this video draws - that Noah and Ham identities were intentionally changed to Ham and Canaan by men is false. Our omnipotent God is perfectly capable of preserving His Word. Noah cursing Canaan instead of Ham (though Ham committed the heinous offense) does NOT indicate the text was altered. (Ham was the perpetrator and Noah was the victim exactly as the text states.) Noah's curse is a generational curse which falls not only upon Ham but his descendants, as well. And by extension the curse is extended to a particular region, to an entire lineage of people... Any video or channel that alleges or implies that God's Word is not one-hundred per cent reliable should be viewed with suspicion.

Another thought on Noah's curse on Canaan because Genesis chpt 8 says God blessed Noah and his sons so Noah couldn't curse Ham because God already blessed him. (My opinion I have to do a more in-depth study before stating as definitive)

Deuteronomy forbids the changing of the text of the Bible.

Thank you. I am now more confused than I ever thought I could be.

How can Noah curse Ham when God already blessed Noah & his sons. So Noah curse the grandson .

What if this passage may be talking about Noah's wife. To uncover her nakedness would be to uncover Noah's nakedness. Which would also explain why the other brothers walked in
backwards. To cover his nakedness. And how Noah knew when he woke up. And Noah would curse Canaan because ham impregnated his wife. Just something ive wondered...

His father's nakedness is Ham's sin against Noah's wife. Canaan was the son of this union, which is why Noah cursed his grandson. I wish preachers would stop confusing people with half-truths that make no sense.

I believe first of all that Ham was NOT young, nor was Ham's son Canaan. This was a number of years after the flood. Consider and learn how long it takes to grow grapes and then how long it takes for the juice of the grape to ferment. Quite a while. I've known about this for a while, but am not sure (not sure if anybody knows) who actually committed the crime, whether it was Ham or Canaan. Noah had a very good reason to curse Canaan. Also as in the case of Lot's daughters, Noah was made drunk. One of them encouraged him to drink and keep drinking until he passed out. Then the crime was committed. Interestingly, most of the Nephilim came thru Canaan.

By the way, the narrator keeps referring to Ham as "the youngest son." Ham was the middle son (if the genealogy was written in the order of their birth), not the youngest. Shem was the oldest and the Messianic line came through him.
I'm also not certain why the narrator changes the names around. Maybe to try to make sense? Who knows!

Firstly,
Thou shall not bear false witness against thy neighbour!
Who are you to declare what you know nothing about.
'Doing ' is a verb.
'Expose' is a verb.
Ham acted out to expose his righteous dad's stumble... Ham was around 100 years old... think about it! Noah was how old? He had inherited the earth as did Adam, He was the husband man of all the animals, everyone he new was destroyed yet he and his family were saved by THE GRACE OF GOD!
His responsibility was HUGE!
He drank one too many and his son tried to expose him for slipping!
No one deserves to be hated for trying thier best!
Ham's son has his dad's reflection

The reason Noah cursed Ham's son and not him is because the sin of Ham was defiling his mother and the result of this unholy union is the offspring of Canaan. That is why Canaan was cursed. Canaan wasn't even born yet when Noah cursed him. Why do you suppose Moses thought it significant to acknowledge that Canaan, who is not born yet, is the son of Ham. After the birth of Canaan and his son's they play a significant role as foes against Israel more than any other son's of Ham, Japhet or Shem. There are also records one called the Writings of Abraham which says that God would preserve the curse of Cain after the flood through Zillah wife of Lamech of Cain who bore Namaah. Noah was told in a vision from God to take Namaah because she was faithful to God's gospel and her and Noah bore Ham. Namaah then dies prior to the building of the ark. So the sin of Ham was with his stepmother. The mother of Shem and Japhet.

Genesis 9:18And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.

Leviticus 18: 8 The nakedness of thy father's wife shalt thou not uncover: it is thy father's nakedness.
