Hugh McDerrmott commemorating the 107th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide

Member for Prospect Hugh McDermott, was one of over 20 Australian politicians who joined the Armenian-Australian community in commemorating the 107th Anniversary of the 1915-1923 Genocide.

Whilst the statements received from Prime minister Scott Morrison and Leader of the Opposition Anthony Albanese on the date marking the Armenian Genocide fell short of characterising the events as genocide, the overwhelming consensus of Australian politicians on this issue was on display during the national livestream commemoration.

Thank you Mr McDermott. With your support we are confident the leaders of Australia’s two major parties will take the final step and recognise the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek Genocides accurately.
