These Rations are still in use. They got called "Einzelkämpferration" aswell. Means like "Single fighter ration" its mostly used as a 3 days emercency ration and placed in your tactical vest. Mostly für elite fighters, Special forces etc. You have one with a orange package aswell...mostly used as emerveny ration on safety rafts, fighterequipment and stuff like that. Strong tea for getting you up. Water purification tablets and dry oatblocks.

This ration is produced to this day by German company MSI for the German military under supply number 8970-12-179-1226.
Pretty much the same. They only swapped the bars for the NRG-5-Type stuff.

Had one of these as a child when my father was stationed at the US Army Installations Hessisch Oldendorf, Germany in the 90's and it doesn't taste bad at all though it was made 1976 or so, but ours where packed in a red box. This stuff held up pretty good! We took that out on camping. Nice review Nathan! Greetings from Germany ;)

Hi Nathan,

those Bars are probably BP-5/BP-WR or NRG-5 Emergency Food Bars.
BP-5/ BP-WR is made by the Norwegian Company GC Rieber Compact,
NRG-5 is made by German Company MSI GmbH.

both are pretty much identical and have a shelf life about 20 years and are heat resistant. Also they pack quite a lot of Energy: 500g have about 2300 kcal!!

They can be used as Babyfood when crumbled into (warm) Water to get a Porridge like meal.


Another Variant of these Bars are " Seven OceanS Standard Emergency Ration for Life-rafts",

Still produced(used) today 10 year expiration.
Weight 220 grams (whole package)
100 grams include: 1920kj/460kcal (460, 000cal)
Fat 17.5 grams
Saturated Fat 9.8 grams
Carbohydrates 56.6 grams
Sugar 13.7 grams
Protein 14.5 grams
Salt <0.5 grams
Ingredients: Wheat, Palm Fat, Sugar, Soy Protein, Barley Malt
Allergy Warning: Contains Gluten and Soy

Use: Eat small pieces during the day or add water to make a mush or more water to make an energy drink.
2 water purification tablets will clean 1 Liter water in 20 minutes.

As I sit in the comfort of my home, I think wow not much of a ration. Yet watching you open it, it contains survival items. Nice review again, I have not seen this one before
