Fan of neither team; he apologized after the cross check and it did not look malicious or intentional to hit him in the face. However it doesn’t matter if a play is intentional or not or if they were hit into it, it’s still a suspension worthy play. Regarding McD’s high stick, wouldn’t be a major penalty but rather a double minor (4min) for drawing blood on a high stick. Missed call there was bad but that one clearly wasn’t intentional either so no need to hate on the player.

Follows the same rules as a hit from behind; doesn’t matter if the player turns into it, if it occurs it’s still the call that has to be made.. doesn’t matter if McD was hit into it, still had to be made.
