Microsoft Windows has had different startup sounds in its history. This video covers most startup sounds in Windows.

* No build of Windows Longhorn used the widespread sound scheme (Including the startup sound). All builds before 5840 used XP's startup sound.

** Windows 8.1 and 10 have their startup sounds disabled by default. The sounds here are the logon sounds. When enabled, they use Windows 7's startup sound.

i love seeing the contrast of 90s/early2000s internet and technology compared to like 2006 to 2014ish. like it went from this retro-futuristic, "sci-fi" atmosphere that was kinda unsettling to suddenly becoming glassy and clean with a corporate, artificial, minimalistic ambiance that just encapsulates the new era of internet and efficiency. as great as tech and the internet are today, the old internet was just so unique that i miss it
