I can't believe I finally found this. All it took was to see all TMNT openings, and hear the song to know what season to look for it. I remember as a kid being 5-7 years old getting an old mic recorder to try to get this song before the age of shazam, and iphones or youtube. I'm 38 now, and I still remember the opening shifting from cartoon to real life. What a gem to have found this again!

I don't know why folks said the red sky seasons were horrible. Some of the best episodes in all TMNT came from the red sky seasons. Granted there were some problems here and there, but honestly, it was pretty good.

Kinda feels like they changed the tone of the cartoon to match the grittier feel of the movie, while for the second movie they changed the tone to match the goofiness of the cartoon

This practically screams, "We're not messing around anymore. It's time to get serious." The sky is red, the city looks gritty, and the turtles are kicking @$$ without mercy. They don't even smile one time in the intro. That, in itself, is a sign that the series took a darker turn.

If you think about it, it’s a bit ironic how the 87 cartoon started off being goofy and lighthearted and turned to being serious in the last few seasons.. meanwhile the 2003 cartoon started off darker and gritty, and got more goofy and childish in its last few seasons and generally speaking fans of each show don’t usually like the last few seasons of each adaption lol
