Rayleigh-Taylor instability on a sphere

Показать описание
Rayleigh-Taylor instability on a sphere surface for 3:1 density ratio and two values of the surface tension between two phases. Reynolds number = 100.
A heavy fluid is initially placed on top of a light fluid with gravity field acting downwards. Such equilibrium is unstable and heavy fluid starts leaking though the light one inducing a flow on the surface of the sphere. Finally the heavy fluid occupies the south semi-sphere, but the equilibrium takes long to reach and it depends also on how much line tension is acting on the interface between two fluids.
