The worker was employed by Unifi, a company that Delta contracts with to support ground-handling operations. The Federal Aviation Administration said Friday that the victim was an airport ramp worker.

Seriously, that sucks.
This doesn't happen often because airplanes are big and loud, and flight-line rules have been worked out. There will be an investigation, but my guess is that he was running from one location to another because he either (A) was using the toilet and had to rush from a long way away, or (B) he had been sent to the wrong Gate and was scrambling to get to the new one. But there's also a possibility he saw something capable of FODing the turbine and ran to grab it, and the plane changed its angle of approach and sucked him in.

Oh what a terrible way to die. Very sad. You think it should be pretty safe when working at the airport, but you still need to be careful.

They've already ruled that death to being a suicide. We know what that means.

This has happened twice now in recent months. FAA needs to look into this.
