I would NOT let my friend sit outside. I would have totally been in solidarity. Dude we are gonna have a blast camping outside! Bff for life!

My childhood's friend's mom knew I was poor and not only did she never ask me or my parents to pay for anything but she also would go out of her way to buy me extra things to make me feel special. She even got me Christmas gifts every year. ❤️ Love that women.

I used to stay at my friend’s house when I was in middle school for days at a time during school breaks. I spent Christmas Eve at their house one year and I woke up to a card and $40 in it from my friend’s mom. I grew up really poor and wasn’t used to getting money as a present. I will always remember this day. Rest in peace to my friend Adrian. His family always treated me like family. 💙🤞🏽

I never charged my kid's friends $ to do anything. What a horrible woman.

Slept on the porch. Smh, I'd love to meet this lady!! Every child was welcome in our home, for free!

That lady is disgusting for treating a child that way.

It’s hard to be the “only one” but it teaches you humility and empathy. Great story.

He looked emotional. Probably one of the memories that fueled him to be successful.

It’s crazy to me that a parent would treat another child that way and make them feel even more insignificant and uncomfortable than they already do. Shame on that woman but I’m glad you turned that into a strength ❤

"Wow, that is heartbreaking. How could anyone treat a child like that?"

My buddy's mom had him invite me to Disney and we spent 2 days between Magic Kingdom and Epcot and on both days she handed me 100 dollars to spend in the park. I grew up poor. She was very kind.

That experience added fuel to the fire that led to his success.

She couldn't be that rich if she couldn't put up $20 for a 12 year old kid.

I will never ever forget the time a friend from middle school asked me to come over for a sleep over. I was very excited because I was somewhat the new kid in school. I did not realize how wealthy she was. We pulled up to a mansion and I was instantly nervous. They said we had dinner reservations and took me to a restaurant that required valet parking. I had never seen valet before I didn’t understand the concept. After one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten I was taken to a play. We were sitting in booth seats on the balcony watching the play… the next morning we went with her father to the golf club that he was a member at and swam in the club pool and sipped Shirley temples.

I had never ever experienced anything so luxourious. I come from a divorced family where the dad took his money and ran and my mom was a waitress. They new this and decided to give me one of the best nights of my life. I never had to ask for anything and was treated just as well as their daughter whenever we got together. I am so so grateful for Mr.Russo and people like him that share their wealth and experiences. It honestly gavee something to strive for a new perspective on how people could live. While being generous and kind ❤

My best friend Eric and I grew up together from like 8 yrs old. I spent sooo much time with his family. Majority of the time it was us and his pops. I’m so thankful for his father. My dad moved back to Ireland when I was in like 6th grade and his dad treated me as if I was his own. I was invited everywhere. If I didn’t have the money to do something I know 1000% he would have paid my way but I had so much respect for that man that I made sure that never happened. I used to walk the neighborhood in summers and cut grass, the winters I shoveled snow, fall I raked leave and spring I would pull weeds and plants flowers. Literally ANYTHING I could do, I did it. I never wanted to feel like the poor kid bc it happened too many times before. I love that man like he was my own father and to this day I would do anything for him if he needed it.

One memory I will never forget tho…. I was raised with manners and respect, especially in someone else’s house. I always asked to get a drink if I was thirsty. Out of respect I wouldn’t ever ask if I could get something to eat. I would also always leave at dinner time even tho they would offer me to stay majority times. I even asked to use the bathroom every time. But one time I had asked Mr. Wilson if I could get a drink and he turned and said “This is your house too, if you’re thirsty you know where it is. You don’t have to ask your own family for a drink.” I love you Mr. John Wilson. I’m forever in your debt for teaching me anytime I didn’t know something but also teaching me so much about being a man and a gentleman. Good bless the Wilson family. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
