Adam (Kirk Douglas) and Alex (Farrah Fawcett) are two scientists stationed deep beneath the barren surface of Saturn's third moon, Titan. They live together in idyllic isolation in a space-age Eden, seeking new forms of food for an exhausted planet Earth. Their perfect world is interrupted when Benson (Harvey Keitel) arrives as Saturn goes into eclipse and cuts off communication with the rest of the solar system. Aided by his 'helper robot' Hector, James reduces life to one single purpose...survival. The robot becomes violently unmanageable. For Adam and Alex, their only hope is to flee, but the homicidal robot stands in their way. Produced and directed by legendary filmmaker Stanley Donen (Singin' In The Rain, Charade and Seven Brides For Seven Brothers), Saturn 3 is a pulse-pounding study in sci-fi suspense!

Totally hidden gem, remember seeing this sometime in summer of 1980. Went with a friend (we were 14) and asked my dad who probably wasn't against seeing Farrah Fawcett and took us to movie since it was rated R.

This was a time when Alien & Star Wars was popular so this came out it did not do well at the box office. But I did like the movie and I will always like her.

Now we know where James Cameron got the ideas for TERMINATOR and ALIENS...

Love this movie. Kirk Douglas, Farrah Fawcett and Harvey Keitel in a 80's Sci-fi movie with a murderous robot? GOLD.

The brand new high definition transfer for the Blu is gorgeous without taking away the grittyness of the 35 millimeter film it was shot on. This is the best presentation of this gem ever made available. 5/5 - recommended purchase.

I love what Farrah Fawcett is wearing when he introduces her as his 'partner'. Only in 1980 eh. No wonder Keitel gets fixated on her.

Looks like they fired the guy who was making the robot before he was done with it

0:07 I Remember this back in 1980, i was a person in a hotel where i would pick up and drop off your laundry, so I met Kurt Douglas, but met his lovely wife in the beginning, she was so sweet, he covered his face with a newspaper, but in the afternoon when i went back with the clean laundry, Kurt Douglas answered the door and he let me in and dropped the laundry on the table and he gave me a $4 dollar tip..very Nice People.... 0:54

Wow - memories. It was so horrible I couldn't stop watching (Farrah...). What was the quote on Jurassic Park: "...then there will be running and screaming..."

They need to remake this for us to enjoy again.

There should of been a remake of this instead of 'The thing'. Carpenter's film didn't need a prequel.

How is it that Stanley Donen went from directing something as innocent as "Singin' In The Rain", to something as schlocky and raw as "Saturn 3"?

Effects suffer from the time... but it was a fair job. They couldn't make a movie like this now. Too intellectually demanding for modern audiences.

I've always liked this film. It's unfairly derided. Amis being a twat deriding his own work...anyome else know that Keitel was dubbed by the late British Actor Roy Dottrice who also did the robots voice too? The dub is very good. I never knew until I found out...the music is very good too. I first saw it late one night on the BBC when they used to show good classic films at night...the only thing I dislike is the little dog being killed. Would have made a nice ending had Fawcett left on the ship with her dog, the guy tries chatting her up and she would tell him to get lost having had enough of men...."just you and me" she would say as the final shot is of her cuddling the dog...fade to black.

You can see this borrowed from Alien.. the Terminator and Aliens borrowed from this. Aliens also used sound effects this movie. The first shortest movie when I was five or six years old. Watching it now after 40+ years.

This is basically like Alien with a robot instead. You can really see where Alien got its inspiration from.

Back in the days when REAL film making was the norm. Today its all drawn on a computer, and the cgi effects look flat as a fart. I'll take this movie over Disney star wars or Terminator dark fate any day. What a pile of woke, mainstream audience garbage those films are.

One would think astronauts in space would wear more functional, practical outfits, on a daily basis....also the hair....that God Blessed spend all that time feathering and piling it up....who are you trying to impress out there?
