68 degrees is a perfect temperature for an axolotl. It's cold enough they wont be stressed at all and its warm enough they will still be active. A fan will work fine. A lot of people use computer fans because they're cheap and work great. Just make sure you're using a lid of some sort like egg crate.

1. Bubbles are ok right? My friend has had hers for a year and she gives them some bubbles and they're perfectly fine.
2. I heard lots of stories about axolotls jumping out of the tanks, so people who are newbies: if I were you I'd just put a top for safe measures.

Thanks for the video its very helpful for beginning axolotl users or people consider to keep 'em :3 I recently acquired an axolotl and he is becoming more cheeky every day. The Lil' hunter he is.

Most don't even reach 30cm, but you also have to take into account that axololts at adults move very very little. They don't need a lot of room. Adult axolotls don't eat eachother, they may bite at a foot or leg every so often if they are not fed properly or enough.

I'm not sure what you mean, but you can use play sand you can find at any hardware store and sift it out to remove any small gravel pieces.

I am going to be getting one of these in the next couple days. Are Axolotles pretty independent or are they more social with eachother? I don't really have a price limit, so with that in mind what would your recommendation be? Should I buy one, or several for their own comfort? Or even buy a different type of fish to put it with.

Thanks for the video I have been wanting go get one and been doing some research and I read that you can use a filter that doesnt let that much air in the water which causes their gills to grow bigger and that is something i would want. What is a good filter that wont let that much air in the tank?

You say that you don't have to do alot of water changes. Does the filter take care of the ammonia from the urine then?

You're right I should have clarified better. A happy healthy axolotl will not jump out of the tank. Stress because of water conditions or other tank mates can cause them to panic and jump out of the tank.

Awesome fish room. I've been thinking of putting an axolotl tank in my bedroom, although I have a concern for temperature. My room temperature is around 68F. Is that too warm, you think? I heard that a simple clip on fan would be sufficient? I heard in your video that your water is around 68F but I read that they prefer colder?

I'd personally like to say a huge thank you for this video. Ive been wanting one for about 3 years now but for some reason I've always thought that they are hard to look after. Before I get my two I was wondering what to feed them, the guy in the pet shop said blood worm, what would you recommend?

I'm a new axolotl parent. He's 6 months. I'm using a 10 gallon tank I made my own sponge filter out of PVC pipe but I've noticed the tank and sponge gets dirty with in 5 days. My question is is there a better affordable filter I can use? I do use the Turkey baster to clean the poop every day I even bought a moss ball for the ammonia. But it dosent seem good enough. I go water changes once a week. Basically what can I do to keep my tank cleaner so I wont have to be doing so many water changes. I dont wanna hurt the lil guy. Oh another thing is do you remove your axolotl when you clean your tank? If so how? I seen some people use there hands or a Tupperware. And what are your opinions on fans to keep the water cold? Sorry for all the questions I'm new at this.
