I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser
Midnights become my afternoons
When my depression works the graveyard shift
All of the people I’ve ghosted stand there in the room
I should not be left to my own devices, they come with prices and vices, I end up in crisis
Tale as old as time
I wake up screaming from dreaming one day I’ll watch as you’re leaving ‘cause you got tired of my scheming - for the last time

It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

Sometimes I feel like everybody is a sexy baby
And I’m a monster on the hill
Too big to hang out
Slowly lurching toward your favorite city
Pierced through the heart but never killed
Did you hear my covert narcissism I disguise as altruism like some kind of congressman
Tale as old as time
I wake up screaming from dreaming
one day I’ll watch as you’re leaving and life will lose all its meaning - for the last time

It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

I have this dream my daughter-in-law kills me for the money
She thinks I left them in the will
The family gathers ‘round and reads it
And then someone screams out
“She’s laughing up at us from hell!”

It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me

It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me

It’s me
Hi

Everybody agrees
Everybody agrees

It’s me
Hi
I’m the problem, it’s me
At teatime
Everybody agrees
I’ll stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero

As a plus sized person I found this scene very validating. I think a lot of young women struggle with basing our self worth on weight and beauty standards. I’m so upset that Taylor felt the need to remove this. A close friend of mine worries constantly about her weight, feeling like she's too skinny. I look and her and think she's beautiful and perfect. But its an insecurity that she worries about a lot, and which is completely valid and understandable. Insecurity isn't about who you are, it's how you feel about yourself, how you perceive yourself. That's what Taylor was trying to portray.

people are so dumb for getting mad at that scene. she literally had an eating disorder, she's sharing HER experiences she's not calling other people fat or saying there's anything wrong with being fat. that scene took a lot of courage for her to include, people love making everything about themselves

This scene was so important and relatable. Taylor was sharing her personal struggles, not attacking anyone

so disappointing the internet still does stuff like that. This scene is so meaningful and deserves to stay

as someone who has anorexia this scene was the one that resonated with me the most and hit way too close to home. i was glad to see it in the music video bc of how validating it was; it was relatable and i felt seen. but now i'm just so sad it got deleted just bc ppl didn't understand the message. :// i assume those who thought she was being "fatphobic" have never watched miss americana.

As a person who struggles with this, I found this scene comforting.
We are the type that advocate body positivity but for ourselves, we're the meanest critics.

The sad thing is that she was actually doing the exact opposite than what the haters said about her in this vid. She was on their side. She is NOT fatphobic she was trying to explain that the media wants her to be more skinny as possible when she doesnt want to. These haters clearly just want attention and just want to be a "hero" for their group of people.

Edit: In case I need to spell it out, she was TRYING to tell the people about the mass media and their standards on how a girl should look like and she was TRYING to stop it. Now all of that is ruined thanks to these so called "heroes". Great job.

As someone with an ED, I feel that this scene is validating to me. This scene means so much to those who are fighting with their minds/thoughts and battling with ED altogether.

As someone who went through Anorexia and Body Dysmorphia, I still don't understand how this is offensive? Taylor is clearly showing how it feels to struggle with ED and body image issues. These people don't know the HELL and MISERY of going through anorexia or bulimia and they think cancelling Taylor makes them look better

I’ve had struggles with accepting my weight, my appearance, relationship with food since I was a kid. After hearing my literal idol say she did too in Miss Americana it was somehow validating to know that everyone does… IT DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE. This was an important scene, for Taylor and for everyone. Thanks for missing the point so hard that now it’s a deleting scene and an invalidation of Taylor’s feelings and tbh your own feelings. Truly a heroic act. 🙄

Ugh I'm so mad that she took this out. Not mad at her, mad at the media for bullying her!!! Putting that in her video was a big step for her considering how she never talks about her eating disorder bc it's a hard thing to talk about and now she's getting bullied for it

As someone currently struggling with an eating disorder (for over a year now), I was angry to read the backlash online. Taylor nor anyone with a restrictive eating disorder (like myself) believe plus size people are anything less than. It's the fact that we have a mental illness, a literal disease that makes us overthink every decision about food, body and exercise and makes us feel like we're always uglier than we actually are. This scene is a reflection of what it's like to have an eating disorder. I felt really seen and comforted by seeing Taylor, who I love, be open about this. The lack of nuance people have over this scene is extremely frustrating. People with EDs deserve to showcase their struggles. The societal problem of demonizing fatness and shaming people to always chase skinniess is a separate issue we need to tackle, this scene is FAR from an endorsement of this societal pressure but rather a mirror of what that devastating standard can do to women and others.

Yes, let them know that this shouldn't be hidden. Taylor Swift should never compromise her work to appease the ego of those entitled and selfish individuals who thinks everything should be about them. This song isn't about you, it's a guided tour of her own insecurities. She doesn't owe you anything. Shame on you for making her modify her work, thereby, invalidating her feelings and her personal struggles.

I'm not a plus size person or a woman. But its pretty clear what message Taylor was trying to send with this, especially the fact that her negative persona is literally the one putting her down. But the fact that this deletion basically says to me "sorry slim girls your not allowed to feel body shamed or body dysmorphic because your not plus size" makes me feel that they are literally invalidating and dismissing real life thoughts that actually have severe consequences, case in point eating disorders.

The WHOLE POINT of the song was how she viewed HERSELF. It’s even in the title “Anti-hero” she’s saying she’s the main character but doesn’t feel good enough and that the media and everyone else agrees. It makes me so upset to see that this scene had to be deleted because some people have no common sense. This scene made perfect sense. She was saying that about HERSELF. Notice how she didn’t say anyone else was fat? It was her on the scale. This scene relates to her personal struggles with an eating disorder. She even mentions it in another song in this album. What you did by basically forcing her to delete the scene just proves this song right. Nothing she does will ever be good enough for you will it? She can’t even make a music video without people getting angry at her.

she really really doesn’t have to remove that scene. it’s NOT a FATPHOBIC. if you watch MISS AMERICANA, taylor showed that she’s having an eating problem. FOR THOSE OF U DON’T KNOW ESPECIALLY THE HATERS, she had a bad experience when she was 18. she’s got bullied cause of her body, that’s why she’s feeling insecure. SHE JUST EXPRESSING HER INSECURITIES WICH A LOT OF PEOPLE, A TEENAGERS ARE RELATING TO IT. i feel so bad for her, she doesn’t deserve this. you can hate her, you can judge her. but she will never expressing her life anymore. we love you taylor🫶🫶

As someone who is plus sized this means a lot that even the girls who are thinner perceive themselves as fat. We all have our insecurities and I’m glad Taylor is speaking out about her own eating disorders.

My biggest flex is that I watched the Anti-Hero music video before this scene got cut out 😎

It’s so sad she felt like this had to be edited out. Honestly, this scene, the whole song, is so powerful and honestly, it just hits different. As someone who has, and still does, struggle with body image, an eating disorder, and food, this scene was and is, so powerful. Hearing Taylor talk about her struggles in the past too has been heartbreaking. The fact people have essentially shamed her into feeling the need to remove this scene is awful. She wasn’t, and wound never try to, shame anyone for their body or their struggles with it. ♥️💜
