Sad how accurate this is. As an ER RN I've found that the only way to convince administrators to do anything about safety issues is to show them how they're losing money due to them.

If you can't do that, they won't even pretend to care. They're not nurses, they don't have the professional ethics we're required to.

Nurse for the VA here. Did anyone read the article where the top dog execs gave themselves 11.5 million dollars spread amongst them recently ? Yep, hiring freezes are being called “ pauses”, and nothing done for nurse’s week. Thanks for squandering money that should be spent caring for our veterans !!!!

Spot on! None of us want another poor quantity bag, which advertises the company, filled with stuff like soda can cozies (with more advertising), another pen (more ads) and other useless stuff. What do we wish for? Additional staff, in order to actually provide the quality care that you get the accolades for.

I love the joke. I really do.
Its truly incredible that we have voiced a litany of very specific concerns that continue to be ignored and then the system is flabbergasted as to why RNs (and other HCP’s are exiting the field).
After trying everything that hasn’t worked…. Why aren’t we trying what would work? Its literally insanity.

Our director once asked did we have to have side rails on beds. Yep true story. Life savers you say. One year we got a paper bag of things donated to the patients as our nurses week gift. Sunscreen, hotel lotions and left over Halloween candy
