Reminds me of Diogenes of Sinope. When asked if he wanted any special instructions for his death, he only asked for a stick, to beat away the vultures. When he was asked ... but you won't feel anything, so why do you want a stick? replied, if I will feel nothing, then it matters not what happens to my corpse.

I mean, why not? It kinda beats being put in a box and after a few generations being forgotten about entirely.

I prefer this sky burial, I don’t have any clinging feelings or attachment for my body and worldly beings. Impermanence

I actually reallh don't mind if my body was to be eaten by these birds. Kinda wonder what would they think about how good I tasted? I'd actually prefer this over getting buried 6 feet under the ground in an isolated coffin next to a bunch of strangers.

As someone who is dead, i confirm that was painful.

Either this or donate to medical school. Better than taking up more of Earth on cemeteries. Peace, everyone.

The thing is that human body is impermanent....

They even grind the bones and turn them into powder nd mix it with something like egg and feed it to the vultures

I have watched a documentary about this on National Geographic. I felt I had to before I made any comment. I am from UK, but I hear some American talk show guy called Joe Rogan? has seen this and has jumped on bandwagon and states he wants one. No doubt his followers will want one as well..although if he is not Buddist I dont know how that will happen. The monk who carried out the task in the documentary was asked how he coped....he admitted to consuming a lot of alcohol before proceeding with task, which tells you right away that it is a pretty gruesome task to undertake. There may have been a place for it when folks could not afford firewood, but according to National Geographic most Tibetans choose to cremete their deceased as modern technology has allowed them to do so for far less money. Most, who were interviewed said that they preferred cremation for their loved ones, rather than have them chopped to pieces. In other words the practice is dying out. Which is a good thing. Oh I know all your Westerners will throw your hands up in horror and the woke brigade will say its part of their culture you are so racist. However please note that most Tibetans are grateful for choice of Cremation because they dont want to see their relative chopped up. I was a Staff Nurse in A and E and then in a hospice. I do think, we as Westerners have an unhealthy relationship with death and dying. We have come a long way in terms of how we talk about death to a loved one or to a patient receiving a diagnosis and we still have work to do. However I challenge all the woke people who praise Sky Burials to prepare a dead human who has been in an RTA and has suffered awful wounds to body and face, and then walk in with relative and hold their hand and say, it is only a dead body. That dead body was a son, a lover, a partner, a child. Why then would you think that you would be fine with watching your mum or dad be hacked to bits? Their bones ground down. Their guts pulled out in front of ypu? You do realise that most Tibetan relatives choose not to see this....and who can blame them? If you're so keen on the idea, the next time a loved one dies you should ask yourself, would I be able to pull granny out the coffin and chop her up for bird food? I admit we still should not hold death as taboo, but this practice is barbaric. People had no choice back in the day, but now they do....and they are choosing cremation. The Chinese government also had to work hard to ban Chinese tourists from Sky Burials as they saw it as a tourist attraction. Also if someone had died of an infections disease they could not be considered for Sky Burial due to making sure birds remained healthy. Nowadays we say everything we see is fine by us, we dont criticise or make comments for fear of offending, or being anti this or anti that. We are entitled to an opinion. I can have an opinion but that does not mean hate. Let me give an example. I once nursed a Christian man who was dying but would not take up his sisters idea of going to dignitas clinic to end life. She was angry and said that it was his stupid Christian beliefs that held him back. Everyone in the family all agreed. The amount of hate and blame Christianity got for that was of the scale. I also had a Buddist convert in the same situation who refused dignitas as, although not Christian his Buddist beliefs stated his life was sacred and not his to take. Lo and behold everyone was fine about it was just the same principal, albeit a different religion. There will always be differences in how people think. Some people prefer burial, some cremation, some want ashes scattered, some want planted under a tree. You see the taboo we have is talking about death and dying...how we dispose of the body is totally different. As nurses we were taught to wash and clean deceased with all the dignity they had while alive. That is what relatives want. Even when folks are organ doners or donate to medical science they are treated with the greatest of dignity. Stripping you mum or dad naked, watching them being chopped limb ftom limb by a drunk monk, and then watching them being disembowled, smashed to a pulp on rocks and then fed to vultures who pass urine and deficate on them will soon be history. Thank God.

I would much rather let the energy used in my body be used instead of being locked in a box . But the funeral business has deceived Humanity. just dig a hole with a seed and let it use your body as it nutriments
