I've been teetering between these two. I really like the Evo not just because of the performance here, but, no geofencing and a better flight time. This is exactly the video I have been looking for. Thanks!

Loved this video Ed! Needed this info, and the delivery was spot on.

Great comparison! I've yet to test an Autel drone but I have been impressed with the Air 2s low light performance

That was even a test, the evo 2 killed it the and the m2p and the inspire. I have seen every dji comparison at night, and the evo has killed them all. But great test
man, I owned them all, but the evo 2 has some some magic about it at night. It the ultimate night beast. I wouldn't fly at night without it.I u said and many others if u use the right settings theres no need for noise reduction software at all, and u know this by experience as I been flying it at night almost at year.. Also if u put it in 24 fps at night, your shutter can go to 1/25, which will show stars in the sky pretty damn good.

I liked the video a lot, Ed. I've always enjoyed flying at night. One thing I've always done after I decide where to fly is I will visit the location in the daytime and make mental notes of structures and wires that I may not be able to see at night.

Come to think of it, for a drone that's almost half the price of the E2P, that's a considerably great low-light performance. Just sayin'

Awesome comparison Ed 👍I’m loving my Air2 S. My lowlight footage looks outstanding on my DJI air 2S. But that Autel evo 2 pro is also amazing drone 👍keep up the great work Ed

Hey Ed! I DO remember you M2Pro to M2Zoom comparison. Which is why I was hoping you would do a video like this. All in all, this comparison came out as I had expected. I bought the Air 2S to shoot low-light stills, mostly. (I get EXTEMELY nervous flying around a dense urban area at night) And so far, it has not disappointed me. The issue I have with Autel is the price. After bells & whistles are thrown in, that's a +$2k drone. And this past fall the RC on my Evo 1 failed. Several times. So I'm a little gun-shy with Autel right now. Excellent review all around once again!

Hey Ed
When you boost exposure on the D-Log profile, are you boosting before or after the lut?
The kit basically drops it down into 8bit so any offset needs to happen as a step before the lut or else you're not comparing Log to Log.
I figured DJI's ISO 100 was actually iso 400 and subsequently their 6400 was then labeled as 1600. I also figured all the data from the 6400 8 bit would be contained in said 1600 10 bit file.

I haven't tested it yet though I don't have the drone yet (that's why I am here!!!)
I typically deal with video cameras and grade in resolve.
Thanks for the video. Lots to think about after seeing it.

Thanks! That was a great video. I learned a lot.

I'd would be great to do and see this same comparison between these 2 Drones, but during the peak of daylight!!! I like this comparison just due to the similarities of resolution cameras !!! Great job on this video !!!

I love my E2P for low light conditions. It out performs my M2P at night.

Even the Evo blows out the highlights in log. Check out the building on the left in the first location. I'm assuming the Air 2S log iso rating can be fixed in a firmware update

Good comparison. I’m still flying my Mavic Pro 1. I’ll definitely have my choice of drones when I’m ready to replace in the next couple years.

Good informative video. I look forward to doing some similar testing soon. I found the results of this test fascinating. Interesting how much better the A2S did with photos.

To be honest, the two footages look about the same to me. But if I'd have to choose, I'd feel more comfortable flying a smaller handier air2s at night than a bigger evo II pro

Ed, Thanks for this. I'm expecting an E2P (V2) and an Autel Smart Controller following in a few weeks, and I started getting a bit of "pre-buyers remorse" - or cold feet, lol, but I just couldn't see a 3+ year old drone purchase, w/Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom, yet DJI camera, footage, and obstacle avoidance are still really good, with Evo just being rougher around the edges. But these night shots even with the newer 1" kn the Air 2 showed what the E2P is capable of, plus smart controller comparisons are worlds apart (I have a DJI SC)
