The Orchard House is a beautiful extra wide tiny house on wheels measuring 10'x19'. This tiny home was built by Colin at Salt Spring Island Tiny Homes and we especially love the super spacious loft and the space saving ship's ladder that folds up and tucks away during the day.

To see more of Colin's building projects, check out his website:

A huge thank you to Simon for filming the footage for this video! You should definitely check out his latest vlog series, Sink or Swim, about how he's re-building a catamaran to run solely on wind and solar power!

10 feet instead of 8 make so much difference. The ladder was really great too. 🙂👍

It is lovely and the ladder is a wonderful design. Also the roofline upstairs makes so much difference.

That extra 2 feet of space makes a world of difference and love that loft much more room than others I've seen.

[1] Kudos on bringing the best design, combining the comfort of stairs and the convenience of a stowable, foldable ladder! Ingenious!

Incredible ladder, the sleeping loft with extra height is awesome!!! I would have put a wood stove instead of propane, but we all have different needs and preferences and the propane stove is really beautiful. Congratulations to the man, he made a top level home!

He is right, it is a work of art! It's brilliant and I would move in right now! (Although having lived with gas heating, I would much prefer a wood stove because of the amount of condensation created by gas!).

My home was 191. I am in SoCal, and yes it was a miracle! Thank God everyday.

the ladder is cute af. perfectly compatible with the interior of the house and does not seem to interfere with the movement of people around the house

Sweet little home and it is a home much more than the $500K house he talks about and both the very young starting out or seniors winding down on fixed incomes can afford. I just wish more communities would allow tiny houses to coexist in all communities. Maybe someday. Great stories thx for the sharing.

There's a lot to like in this house, and the exterior is lovely. I was prepared to dislike the "sladder" but it's very intelligent.

C’est beau et l’escalier est très ingénieux, merci pour le partage.

Think doing cob around key parts of the stove and stove pipe would moderate the hot/cold that you get with a woodstove.
You could get more benefit if you used it to heat (or at least preheat) the hot water, and if the power is out, it can be used to cook on, too...

Very nice! We just started building our tiny house so this gives me great design inspiration! I love the folding ladder and bright loft space. 😍 Also, thanks for the tip about the wood stove vs. propane. We originally wanted a wood stove but since our house is 4x5m, propane might be a better fit.
