I have a feeling that Taraji is toning down Cookie's character to be more 'matured'. You can see the seriousness especially the dining scene. You can also see during her conversations with Lucious. The way she talked really bring the new sides of Cookie. Which is good I guess. But my point is solely based on the trailer. I might be wrong.
