The Wall x Niio Art Awards Open Call | Samsung

Samsung Electronics announced an Open Call for new media artists on January 30th, 2020, in collaboration with Niio, the premium platform for moving image art. During the two months from January 30th to March 30th, following 494 artwork submissions from 59 countries, a panel consisting of art world professionals and Samsung representatives revealed the top 3 winners. We are proud to work with Samsung to ensure these works of art are showcased on the world’s most prestigious display, The Wall, to get the attention they deserve. Congratulations to the winner of Samsung The Wall x Niio Art Awards! The winning artwork was created by Dev Harlan.

Dev Harlan works in sculpture, installation and digital media. He has exhibited in the US and internationally with solo exhibitions at Christopher Henry Gallery, Gallery Madison Park (New York), Vasquez Gallery (Brooklyn) and Northern-Southern (Austin). Public art exhibitions include “Ideas City / Nuit Blanche”, (New Museum, NY), Singapore Light Festival (Singapore) and CUNY Oswego Sculpture Program. Recently he was included in the museum show “Noor (Light)” at the Sharjah Art Museum, (UAE).

Dev has been an artist in residence at the Frank Lloyd Wright School Of Architecture, the Joshua Tree Highlands Residency and AZ West. He has been a teacher and guest critic for INDA (International Design & Architecture program) at Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, and has guest lectured for NYU ITP and the ASU Design Dept. He is a self educated artist and maintains an active studio practice founded on experience, self directed study and curiosity.
