Immunology in the skin

Показать описание
The skin is the body's main barrier against physical insults and microbial pathogens. Diverse and functionally specialized subsets of immune cells in the skin sense and respond to infection or various barrier breaches to activate an immune response and eventually, return to homeostasis. However, deregulated immune responses can also cause skin disorders, such as psoriasis.

This Nature Video introduces the environment and key participants in skin immunity during steady-state and disease.

Thank you, Nature! Having a master degree on Microbiology, I still find it more effective than numerous ponderous textbooks.

Biomedical Science student here, from Brazil. It's kinda hopeless but also intriguing to study an immune disorder that you have yourself such as Psoarisis. Luckly, mine isn't that difficult to take care but it do has a stressful routine trying to maintain the inflammation at low knowing that is lifelong. After finishing the graduate degree, probably I'll focus on genetic research; but later, I'll try my best to come up with good results on the immune research/field specially on skin disorders to end this stressful and harsh condition that millions of people suffer off.

This seems to me as though my body is like some sort of planet and I'm watching another civilization. Very weird how all this is going on in me and you we have such basic awareness of it and just how detailed it actually is.

A layman who watches this will 1-2 times will understand this complex beautiful micro-world and its relevance better than a med school student who has read a textbook 10000 times. Bravo c'est magnifique!

The vocabulary needed to describe this complex organ is crazy, reflecting on a small scale the super genius designer behind all this. Glory to God!

I've been having psoriasis since I was a child. It used to be very mild but now it evolved to be more severe for the past years. It's a pleasant surprise to hear how it actually works eventhough I only understand few points.
